Nagasaki Weather

Camp Heiwa offers multiple camp sessions throughout the year! Let us help you better prepare for your stay depending on the season of your session.

Nagasaki city is the capital of Nagasaki Prefecture on the island of Kyushu, Japan and enjoys a humid subtropical climate

Nagasaki has HOT and HUMID summers and cool to mild winters. 

From about May to September, Nagasaki experiences hot, wet, and humid weather. In June and July, the rainy season in Nagasaki brings a lot of rain. While periods of good weather commonly occur: June, July and August can get VERY humid, with August typically being the hottest month.

From June to October, Nagasaki may experience typhoons. 

From October to April, there is less rainfall and temperatures become more comfortable and enjoyable. 

January is typically the coldest month in Nagasaki. Snowfall may occur December, January and/or February.  

Cherry blossom season can typically be observed around the end of March and beginning of April. 

Nagasaki Recommended Packing List Ideas
(non-exhaustive)

Summer/Fall

  • Campers are advised to wear loose clothing to combat heat and humidity 

  • Towel for bathing at camp facility

  • Sunglasses

  • Long-sleeve or sweatshirt for evenings (can get a little cooler)

  • High SPF sunscreen and lip balm

  • DEODORANT (very difficult to find in Nagasaki - Japan in general)

  • Bring an umbrella/rain coat (though both CAN be purchased in Nagasaki) 

  • Refillable water bottle

  • Swimwear if you're heading for the beach (summer)

  • Comfortable sightseeing shoes, Nagasaki is a very walkable city!

  • OPTIONAL: indoor-only shoes/slippers (during your stay at the camp facility, slippers are provided but are one-size, so bringing your own is recommended)

Winter/Spring

  • Warmer articles are advised (scarves, hats, gloves)

  • Towel for bathing at camp facility

  • Warm, thick socks

  • Warm jacket 

  • Think LAYERS!

  • Comfortable sightseeing closed toe shoes, Nagasaki is a very walkable city!

  • DEODORANT (very difficult to find in Nagasaki - Japan in general)

  • OPTIONAL: indoor-only shoes/slippers (during your stay at the camp facility, slippers are provided but are one-size, so bringing your own is recommended)
